First Wine Company by African-American Sisters Launching Their New Collection

This sisterhood continues to break new ground within the wine industry as they recently announced the second installment of their wines. Andrea and Robin McBride were the first African-American sisters to form their own wine company, which they called Truvée Wines.

They formed this company because of their love of wine, but it was also a way for them to share their unique story. These two sisters share a father, but were each raised by their mother, and neither knew that the other existed until 1999 when a family member connected them.

Although their lives had been very different, they both shared a love of wine and winemaking as they had both been raised in wine regions. The McBride sisters now have 10 years of experience in the wine industry and are thrilled to provide winos with affordable luxury wines.

The wine’s name, “Truvée,” is fittingly derived from the French verb “to find” and is their second wine offering following their debut wine

“Truvée embodies the spirit of our story, while naturally reflecting our signature winemaking style.  We’ve created a high-quality wine that is approachable and sophisticated,” said Robin McBride in a press release. “Truvée stylistically combines old world and new world winemaking philosophies to bring affordable luxury to contemporary wine drinkers, and creates the foundation for our wine company.”

Truvée offers a lightly oaked Chardonnay and a Rhone Style Red Blend.

“We believe our story of empowerment will resonate with women worldwide as they discover the delicious flavors of the Central Coast grapes in their glass of wine. Truvée appeals to the wine lover intrigued by undiscovered and high quality wine,” Andréa McBride said. “We’re excited to share our story and amazing wines with wine lovers across the country. And we hope you’ll share a bottle with those who matter to you most.”
